THE GATES

What are the gates? When Island Lake first originated (see 50th Anniversary section for history) it was a resort town. The only way to visit friends or family was to enter through one of three gates. The original gates are long gone but the memory lives on by the markers pictured.

Gate one is located on Route 176 and Eastway Drive.

Gate 2 is located on Route 176 and Roberts Road (Midway Drive).

Gate 3 is located on Route 176 and Lakeview Drive.

The Westridge subdivision, it is located on the east side of Island Lake on Route 176 and Westridge Drive. It is most noted for the gazebos at the entrance and picturesque landscaping upon entering.

Newbury Village (town homes) is located on Burnett and River Roads.

Our Water Tower located on Route 176 and Janet Drive. Highlights the holiday season by the star on top being lit.

Cotton Creek School, which houses Kindergarten through 4th grade, can be seen from Route 176 just behind Water Tower Park.
